Tanah Rata is the connection point between long distance bus services to the Cameron Highlands and other forms of transport for local travel. Tana Rata is located 1,440 metres above sea level and has a considerably cooler climate than Kuala Lumpur for this reason. This tea plantation, which is open to the public, is located 4.2 km to the South East and to get there you need to walk, hire a bike or pay for a taxi which should charge around 40 MYR return for the journey. For the more adventurous travellers there are signposted walking routes radiating out from the town of Tanah Rata to the nearby mountain peaks and waterfalls.
