About Sweetenham Ferry Pier
Sweettenham Pier was established in 1904. The name of the pier is a reference to Frank Sweetenham, who was the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Straits Settlements from 1901 to 1904.

Sweetenham Pier is the most popular port in the Malay Peninsula for cruise ships, with an estimated 1.35 million passengers having disembarked at Sweetenham Pier in 2017.

Sweetenham Pier’s popularity as a cruise ship destination has been facilitated by the construction of a three storey terminal building containing immigration and customs offices, as well as toilets, waiting rooms and other amenities servicing ships docking into the 400 metre long deep sea pier.

Tickets for passenger ferries can be purchased at the Langkawi Ferry Services office which is on the Pesara King Edward in the row of shops opposite the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower.
